The Court Hearing

It was the day of the court hearing. Everyone involved with witnesses had to go. Ponyboy was being delirious, but we had to bring him anyway. By the time we got there, we were almost late. "Good luck, Ponyboy," I told him. He nodded and walked off. I went with Darry to sit in the court audience. We were waiting for the rest of the people to arrive. When Cherry and Randy came, they sat down in the front seats. The judge asked them a few questions regarding the situation. Me and Darry sat there quietly, listening the what was happening. Then the judge called Pony up. He asked some questions, but those regarding his schoolwork and grades. Then the judge made the final decision. The case was closed, even though Pony thought otherwise.

Dally's Death

When Dally had run, off after Johnny had die, we all just stood in the house. We were waiting for Pony to come home. Then the door was opened and in came a Pony. He was slightly swaying and I ran to catch him. "Soda?" asked Ponyboy drearily. "Ya, it's me, Soda." I told him quietly. I laid him down onto the sofa and sat down with him. Then the phone rang and it was Dally again. He told us to meet at the vacant lot quickly and told us to bring everyone. I was debating on whether to bring Pony or not, but I did anyway. I wrapped his arm around me and we made our way to the lot. We saw Dally run up to a lighted street lamp and stop. There were police cars chasing him and the police got out. They told Dally to put down the money and to put his hands up. But Dally did neither. We watched in horror of what he was going to do next. He had brought out a gun. I remember distinctly Pony telling me that Dally had a fake gun and that he might use it when the time comes. Then it quickly dawned to me and my face paled. Steve noticed and asked me what's wrong. "Put your hands up right now!" yelled a police officer. Dally had raised his gun this time and the police had saw, They started shooting at him. Dally's body shook with the bullets until he finally fell into a heap onto the ground. We all watched in horror of what just happened, replaying the scene over in our minds. We had lost another one tonight,

The Greaser and Soc Rumble

The Rumble

So, we were walking down the street, making our way down to the vacant lot. As we got there, I had saw that Tim Shephard and his gang were already there. "Hey Soda! Long time no see." greeted Tim. "Yah, I guess it's been a while." I replied, giving him a firm handshake. Then another gang, the Brumly boys, had arrived. We shook hands to affirm our alliance with each other and began to wait for the Socs to arrive. Then Tim yelled, "Hey, Curtis!" "Which one?" I yelled back. "The big one!" he responded. Darry had gone to him and by the time they were done, the Socs were arriving. They were wearing their madras shirts and got out of their four mustangs. I looked around me and saw that most of us were giving the Socs dirty looks. "Well, we all know the rules, don't we? Nothing but fists and the first one to run loses." the Soc in the front said. We all murmured a yes. "Well, who wants to start?" There was an uneasy silece. "I'll start." said Darry, suddenly. "Well, I guess I'll take you one then." said a mysterious, but familiar voice. He stepped out from the middle of the Soc gang and came into the light. "Well, well. If it isn't Paul." drawled Darry. Both Darry and Paul were staring each other down. They started to circle each other. "Hey, wait for me!" yelled a familiar voice. Dally had run over to us. Darry had glanced at him and Paul took that opportunity to swing a hard right to the jaw and the rumble had started. A Soc had jumped on top of me and I punched him hard in the stomach. Then another Soc came at me and I kicked him in the knee. While beating up that guy, I heard Steve yell. I quickly made my way over to him to see him being beaten the life outta him. On my way there, I saw that Pony was being kicked hard in the ribs. I wanted to go help him, but Darry beat me to it. He was slugging the two Socs and I did not want to be in their place. When I got to Steve, I beat the living daylights outta that Soc and threw him onto the ground in a tumbled heap. I began talking to Steve in a low voice to help calm him down from his anger. Then I heard Two-Bit yell," Look at them run! They're leaving, they're leaving!" They were getting into their cars and speedily drove away. We all had one thing on our mind, and that was: we had finally beaten the Socs.

Johnny's Death

Ponyboy and Dally were visiting Johnny after we had won the rumble, beating the Socs. They had gone to the hospital to tell Johnny the good news. While Pony and Dally were going to the hospital, the rest of the gang was picking themselves up, and heading back home. Steve was leaning on my arm, while Darry walked with Two-Bit. We all slowly stumbled our way home, hoping not to caught by any police. When we had gotten home, Two-Bit, Steve, and Darry went to go clean themselves up. I had gone to take another shower. When I had gotten back, they mood was pretty tense. Darry had tended to his bruises and Two-Bit to his cut lip and eyebrow. Steve had also fixed his bruises and cuts. But that's not the worst. They had gotten a call from Dally, saying that Johnny had died in the hospital from his severe burns. He had said that Pony was still at the hospital and didn't have a ride home. When Darry had finished, we all grew silent. Johnny had passed away. We were all pretty much in denial. But that still couldn't erase the fact that Johnny was gone.

The Preparations to the Rumble

So me, and the rest of the gang were getting ready for the rumble tonight. Ponyboy was busy in the shower, getting clean for the rumble. I was playing poker with Steve when Pony started yelling at me. "Hey Soda! When did you start shaving?" yelled a curious Ponyboy from the bathroom. I thought for a moment and yelled back, "When I just turned fifteen! Why?" "Eh, nothing much. I'm maybe thinking of growing a beard." shrugs Pony. "Haha, very funny. The day you grow a beard is the day Two-Bit stops putting in his two bits in." I replied, laughing out loud. Pony laughed along and went back to putting on more grease on his hair. Me and Steve went back to playing poker in the living room. We had played a few games when Ponyboy had finally finished putting on grease in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom, punching Pony on my way there. "Ow, Soda. What was that for?" asked Ponyboy, gently rubbing his shoulder. "Oh, just showing my love to my favorite little brother." I said, winking at him. Ponyboy scoffed and went to the living room where everyone else was. I closed the door to the bathroom, making sure I locked it and took my shower. After turning off the water, I wrapped a towel around myself and wrung out the water droplets from my hair. I unlocked the door and stepped out. Apparently, Pony had wanted to get back at me for punching him earlier so he had jumped out in front of me. I just stood there, not blinking at all. "Aww, Soda. Why do you have to be boring?" asked Pony. "Because I just am." I smirked at him. I walked away from Pony and went to go get a tight black shirt and some jeans. After dressing, I went back to the living room, where everyone was gathered. "Hey guys? Why do you guys like to fight." asked Ponyboy again. "Well, I like to fight-" Darry started to say. But I had butted in and said"He likes to fight because he likes to show off his muscles." Darry sent me a glare, but I just shrugged it off and gave him a cheeky grin. He sighed and just laughed at me. "Why do you like to fight, Soda?" inquired Pony. "Well, I just like to fight." "That's it?" Ponyboy looked at me incredulously. "Yup." I said, popping the"p"."Then why do you like to fight, Steve?" Pony had turned to him now. "Let's just say I like to see the Socs' heads be knocked together...hard." Steve had grinned evilly at the end of this part. I made a mental note to not get on his bad side...ever. Then Darry suddenly said that Pony shouldn't be in the rumble. Pony then started complaining that he was good enough and that it would be good experience for him. "Aye Darry, just let the kid be in the rumble. He deserves it anyway." I said. "Thanks", mouthed Pony. I smiled at him. "Fine..but if you need any help, just holler and me or Soda'll be there to help. Since Johnny ain't gonna be there to double up with you and with Dally still in the hospital we'll need all help we need." lectured Darry. "Yah, yah we get it. Now shoo, we've got more important things to do anyway." I shooed him away with my hands. "Like what, little brother?" asked Darry. "Well, things like...this!" I yelled, pushing Darry. "Why you little-!" snarled Darry playfully. I dodged his tackle and ran through the door, doing a flip and a back handspring. Darry came after me, doing a back flip and then a front flip. "Hey, wait for me!" yelled Two-Bit, jumping out of the door and tackling me. "Oopmf. How much do you weigh?" I asked, trying to catch my breath. "Well, maybe about hmm, as much you I suppose." said Two-Bit, getting off of me. "I weigh that much?" I looked down at myself, "Huh, I don't think I even look half of your size." I told him. "Haha, very funny." said Two-Bit. I saw Steve coming out of the house and he was running towards us. At the last moment, he did a no-hands cartwheel, almost hitting Pony in the head. "Aye, watch it!" scolded Pony. "Pfft, whatever." said Steve. We were all walking on the road, doing flips and acrobatics. Laughing and playing endlessly for now, we were making our way down to the vacant lot, where things with the Socs would be settled once and for all.
